Bereits im <strong>Mittelalter<\/strong> war die Stadt am S\u00fcdufer des Gardasees ein <strong>bedeutender Handelsst\u00fctzpunkt<\/strong>. Davon zeugen die vielen Handelsh\u00e4user mit ihren typisch gew\u00f6lbten Lagerr\u00e4umen, die vor allem im historischen Ortskern und rund um den Hafen zu finden sind. Im heutigen Desenzano del Garda laufen viele F\u00e4den der Verwaltung zusammen. Au\u00dferdem gelten die zahlreichen Gesch\u00e4fte und Boutiquen unter den Lauben der Altstadt als guter <strong>Tipp f\u00fcr Shoppingfreunde<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Wer sich nur einen Cappuccino genehmigen und das rege Treiben in den Stra\u00dfen und Gassen genie\u00dfen m\u00f6chte, ist im Zentrum von Desenzano mit seinen <strong>h\u00fcbschen und <\/strong>romantischen Pl\u00e4tzen ebenso gut aufgehoben. Das ehemalige Fischerd\u00f6rfchen hat sich heute ganz und gar dem Fremdenverkehr verschrieben. Gepflasterte G\u00e4sschen, liebevoll instandgehaltene historische H\u00e4user, mit Blumen geschm\u00fcckte Fassaden sowie noble Hotelanlagen und urige Gasth\u00f6fe sind nahezu \u00fcberall zu finden. Am Abend verwandelt sich die Altstadt in ein besonders stimmungsvolles Ambiente. Ein \u00e4u\u00dferst romantisches Revier f\u00fcr Spazierg\u00e4nger ist auch der Norden der Stadt, wo idyllische Oliven- und Zypressenhaine zu finden sind. Das Bild der schlichten und doch erhabenen Stadt ist gepr\u00e4gt von einigen h\u00fcbschen Pal\u00e4sten, die etwas verstreut in der Bucht liegen. Wenn man an der Seepromenade entlang spaziert, kann man bis heute die besondere Atmosph\u00e4re und die glanzreiche Vergangenheit sp\u00fcren, die dieses Zentrum auszeichnen. Zwischen den edlen Geb\u00e4uden, eleganten Gesch\u00e4ften, Werkst\u00e4tten und H\u00e4usern hallt die Geschichte alter Berufe und Handwerke noch immer nach. Die zentral gelegene Piazza Vittoria liegt unmittelbar am Ufer und mit dem Kommen und Gehen der vielen Schiffe und Boote wird der Stellenwert deutlich den Sal\u00f2 hatte \u2013 und nach wie vor hat. Die Insel befindet sich in Privatbesitz, die Villa und die botanische Parkanlage sind seit wenigen Jahren allerdings f\u00fcr das Publikum ge\u00f6ffnet.
